Senior Taylor Ishida wowed UH Wahine Volleyball fans Wednesday night with a stunning performance of the National Anthem and Hawaii Pono‘i. At the start of her performance, Ishida encountered a small technical problem with her microphone. Nevertheless, the senior appeared unshaken and sang confidently before the crowd of more than 3,000 people.
“It was an amazing experience to be able to sing for so many people. I was nervous, but who isn't?” said Ishida via email.
Ishida is a member of HBA’s Soldiers of Light choir and has participated in various school musicals. Additionally, she is a member of the Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus, has performed in multiple operas with the Hawaii Opera Theatre, and has taken voice lessons from renowned vocal coaches Neva Rego and Betty Grierson. She also sings for the worship team for her church and at HBA.
In addition to music, Taylor is a member of Shobukan Judo Club and enjoys snowboarding. She hopes to study vocal performance in college.
